Gabriela Talaba, Felicity Maltby take two-set wins to advance on first day of NCAA Singles Championships

ATHENS, Ga. – Junior Gabriela Talaba and Sophomore Felicity Maltby advanced to the Round of 32 after picking up two-set wins over their opponents during the opening round of the NCAA Singles Championships today.

No. 9 Talaba claimed a 6-2, 6-1 win over Auburn's Alizee Michaud in the Round of 64. She will face No. 24 Brienne Minor from Michigan tomorrow in the Round of 32. The win marked Talaba's 13^th over a ranked opponent. She is now 7-4 against Top 20 opponents.

Minor defeated No. 21 Sinead Lohan of Miami in three sets (3-6, 6-3, 6-3) in the opening round this afternoon.

No. 58 Maltby clinched a spot in the Round of 32 with a 6-2, 6-2 win over No. 50 Kassidy Jump of Arizona State. Maltby moves to 7-6 over ranked opponents this season and will face the winner between No. 44 Anna Danilina (Florida) or No. 2 Hayley Carter (UNC) tomorrow.

Juniors Sarah Dvorak and Sabrina Federici begin the doubles championship play tomorrow as they face No. 15 Alex Chatt and Maddie Lipp of Northwestern.
