Men's Tennis Adds Consolation Wins at Midland Invite

Justin Bloss earned his first career singles win in consolation action on Saturday.
MIDLAND, Texas – The Texas Tech men's tennis team added a singles and a doubles consolation win on day two of the Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational on Saturday.
Justin Bloss broke through for his first career singles win with a 6-4, 6-1 decision over Rice's Jared Aiman, while Jackson Cobb and Matheus Leite tucked away a 7-5 doubles win versus Sergiu Bucur and Samuel Serrano of Utah State.
Leite was eliminated in singles action by Oklahoma's Adrian Oetzbach who emerged with a 7-6 (5), 6-3 victory in their quarterfinal matchup.
"Matheus lost to a tough opponent from OU that has experience playing in big matches," Texas Tech assistant coach Daniel Whitehead said. "He gained good experience and played well this tournament. Justin and Jackson played better today. I'm proud of them making some changes from day one to day two. All three guys have areas to improve in and will play a match tomorrow and will continue to improve."
Texas Tech will wrap up opening weekend with consolation matches at Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational on Sunday. Next weekend, the Red Raiders will turn their attention to the John Breaux Cajun Tennis Classic hosted by Louisiana-Lafayette.
