Volleyball Remains Unbeaten with Win Over Dartmouth

BERKELEY, Calif. – Texas Tech volleyball improved to 4-0 on the season with a 3-0 triumph of Dartmouth Saturday in its second of three matches at the Cal Classic in Berkeley, Calif.

The Red Raiders (4-0) took the win 25-13, 25-20, 25-19, and now gear up to take on Cal (4-1) this evening at 9:30 p.m. CT at Haas Pavilion. The Golden Bears are also 2-0 on the weekend after sweeping both Dartmouth and Eastern Washington.

Sophomores Chandler Atwood and Emily Hill were the only players for the match in double figures as they connected on 13 and 11 kills, respectively. Junior setter Kyndal Cowan came on in the second set and led the team with 20 assists, while Reyn Akiu, the Big 12 digs leader, recorded 16 digs.

Tech outhit the Big Green .153 to .064 for the match. A strong serve consistently kept Dartmouth off their rhythm as the Red Raiders recorded a season-high eight aces, their most since scoring nine against Abilene Christian on Sept. 9, 2016.

Dartmouth was led by sophomore Abby Kott's six kills on .417 hitting. Sophomores Carly Tower and Tori Dozier provided stiff opposition at the net, picking up nine and six blocks, respectively.
