Men's Tennis Inks Lorenzo Battista of Italy

Red Raiders add their third signee in as many months to the 2019 squad.
LUBBOCK, Texas. – The Texas Tech men's tennis team has landed talented international player Lorenzo Battista of Italy.
Battista, who was recently ranked as high as No. 632 in the world, is the third addition to the 2019 Red Raiders lineup, along with the Argentinian duo of Ribero and Vittar, who signed earlier in the fall.
"I chose Tech because it's a great school for both tennis and schooling," Battista said. "The coaches were fantastic throughout the entire process, and I'm ready to play tennis with my teammates, improve my game and graduate with a degree in economics and marketing."
Assistant coach Daniel Whitehead, who was vital to the signing of Battista, is well aware of the impact he will have on the squad.
"It didn't take long for us to know that he'll be a big contributor to our team when he gets here," Whitehead said. "He's going to bring the intensity and fierce competitiveness that we like to play with. We can't wait to have him in the scarlet and black."
The Red Raiders will be back on the court this week as the team travels to Waco for the ITA Texas Regionals, which begin on Thursday.
