The Missouri State standout served as a graduate manager last season.
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech head softball coach Adrian Gregory has elevated Mary Stephens to volunteer assistant coach, the program announced Wednesday.
Â
Stephens joined the Red Raider softball program in August of 2017 and served as a graduate manager for the last year. She replaces Tech alum Brooke Scott, who was hired as an assistant coach at Quinnipiac last month.
Â
"We are very excited to promote Mary to our volunteer assistant," Gregory said. "She has gone above and beyond in her previous role and has a real passion for the game. It will be awesome to have her in a teaching role and have another set of hands in the grind."
Â
A native of Sachse, Texas, Stephens started 207 games in her career at Missouri State, where she graduated in 2017 with a degree in Park, Sport and Rec Administration in 2017. She is currently pursuing her master's in Sport Management at Tech.
Â
She received numerous accolades during her playing career, including a NFCA National Player of the Week award which was the first in Missouri State history. The first baseman was also tabbed All-Missouri Valley Conference Second Team her freshman season and MVC All-Tournament Team her sophomore year.
