Gala Dumez joins the Texas Tech golf program with significant international experience
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech women's golf coach JoJo Robertson announced the first signee of the 2019 class Thursday as Gala Dumez inked a National Letter of Letter to join the program.
Dumez, a native of Bordeaux, France, will enroll at Texas Tech next summer as one of the top international players as she currently ranks in the top 600 of World Amateur Golf Ranking.
"We are so excited to welcome Gala into our program," Robertson said. "She is a great player who has a ton of international golf experience. Gala is very driven and wants to be the best she can. I love her competitive spirit."
Dumez will arrive in Lubbock with plenty of international experience as she has played in the Ladies British Open Amateur, the Annika Invitational Europe and the Spanish Ladies Amateur. She has also represented her native France in the European Girls Team Championship and the World Junior Girls Championship.
Dumez will be the second member of her family to play collegiate golf in the United States as her older brother, Sam, is currently a student-athlete at Lamar.
Dumez is the first signee in Tech's 2019 class as Robertson and assistant coach Laurie Brower are expected to ink an additional prospect in the days to come.
