Cross Country Ends Season at Mountain Region Championships

Red Raiders conclude fall in Provo
PROVO, Utah – Texas Tech cross country wrapped up their 2018 campaign at the NCAA Mountain Region Championships Friday afternoon in Utah. Tech's lone personal record came from Nathan Gift on the men's side.

Gift led the men's team, which finish 17th in a Mountain Region widely considered the toughest in the nation, with a PR of 32:09.2 to place 92nd. He was followed by Luke Estes, whose 32:56.0 netted him 104th. The rest of the Tech finishers were all bunched together, as Stephen Alvarez, Shea Whatley and Connor Hughes finished 107th, 108th and 109th, respectively.

On the women's side, Seselia Dala missed a PR by just 12 seconds with a 21:43.0 en route to a 78th-place finish. Lauren Offerman crossed next for Tech with her 111th-place time of 22:27.9 and was closely followed Bret Leigh Nance, who took 113th with a 22:30.1. Binta Ka and Jazmyn Martinez rounded out the scoring in their Mountain Region debuts.

With the cross country season finished, Tech's distance squad will join the rest of the Red Raider track & field team in preparing for indoor season. Tech's first of seven home indoor meets, the Corky Classic, will take place Jan. 12 in the Sports Performance Center.
