Lady Raiders to Face UCLA in ITA Indoors Opener

MADISON, Wis. – The No. 8 Texas Tech Women's Tennis team is one of 16 teams headed the ITA Indoor National Championships this weekend.

The four-day event begins on Friday with the University of Wisconsin serving as host.

The Lady Raiders are set to open play as the No. 6 seed and face No. 13 UCLA on Friday at noon.

Texas Tech and UCLA have met only once in program history. The Bruins defeated the Lady Raiders, 6-0, on Feb. 15, 1979 at the Arizona Invitational. This was the first season for the Lady Raiders.

Tech earned a spot at the indoor national championships for the third straight year after winning its ITA Kickoff Weekend rounds hosted in Lubbock. The Lady Raiders swept Wichita State, 4-0, to clinch the spot in Madison, Wis.
