Texas Tech recorded its second top-five finish in as many weeks Tuesday in South Carolina

LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech recorded its second top-five finish in as many weeks Tuesday as the Red Raiders wrapped the Briar's Creek Invitational in fifth place following a 15-over-par 303 final round at the Golf Club at Briar's Creek.

The Red Raiders, backed by a 1-over 73 final round by Mami Yamamoto, finished in sixth place or better for the fifth time this season as Tech closed the 54-hole tournament at 18-over 882 overall.

Yamamoto, who had four birdies over her final 10 holes to finish tied for 28th, was one of three Red Raiders to rank among the top-30 individuals, joining Lauren Mason and Louise Brunt. Mason finished in a tie for 14th at 2-over for the tournament, while Brunt was a stroke back in a tie for 20th overall.

Mason added a 3-over round for the Red Raiders, who entered the final 18 holes in a tie for third place. Tech's other two contributing scores came from a 5-over card by Brunt and a 6-over score from Amy Taylor. Gabby Barker notched a 7-over round to end the tournament in a tie with Taylor for 55th place.

North Carolina claimed the team title following a 5-under final round that moved the Tar Heels to 16-under for the tournament. Campbell finished in second at 10-under followed by Illinois in third at 3-over and Penn State in fourth at 14-over.

Tech will take nearly two weeks off before returning to the links April 1 for the Bruzzy Challenge in Dallas. The two-day tournament will be hosted by North Texas at the Maridoe Golf Club.
