Men's Track & Field Ranked First Heading into Nationals

The men’s track & field program lengthens their first-place USTFCCCA ranking in the latest pre-nationals poll.
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Red Raiders hailed their fourth-consecutive first-place ranking, as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association this afternoon.
This first-place ranking continues the program's streak as the longest top-ranked position ever held in Texas Tech history.
Tech will be traveling a total of 11 male entries to the 2018 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships this weekend, March 9-10, in College Station, Texas. This is the most qualifying entries ever traveled by the Red Raiders for indoor nationals.
The 10 qualifying men make up a 130.74-point total in the computer rankings, sitting on top with a 28-point lead, calculated from this year's scored best performances.
Three student-athletes, Charles Brown, Andrew Hudson, and Divine Oduduru, qualified in two or more events at the championship meet.
Oduduru leads the charge, entered in three different races. His 20.18 200-meter mark, 6.58 60-meter dash and contribution to the 3:05.18 4x400m relay all earned spots to compete on the national stage. Joining Oduduru in the 60m and 200m races will be conference championship co-high-point scorer Hudson, with his 6.62 and 20.42 runs. Brown will enter the jumps force with his No. 2 and No. 8 nationally ranked long jump (8.03m/26-4.25) and triple jump (16.30m/53-5.75) performances.
Trey Culver will look to defend his indoor national crown in the high jump, currently sitting in first nationally with his 2.33m/7-7.75 clearance from the Corky Classic.
In the men's pole vault, Brandon Bray and Drew McMichael will be battling. Both enter the national meet with their No. 11 ranked 5.50m/18-0.50 marks from the season.
Vincent Crisp qualified for his first-ever indoor 800m race with a 1:48.01 run, calculated to 1:47.70 at altitude, that ranks ninth heading into the meet.
Last but not least, the men's 4x400-meter relay will be competing in College Station. Entering with a 3:05.18 mark was the quartet made of, Tyreek Mathis, Steven Champlin, C.J. Jones and Divine Oduduru.
