2018 OUTDOOR
Competed in five meets … began year with a PR of 21.28 that helped finish runner-up in the 200m at the ACU Wes Kittley Invite … was part of victorious 1600SMR team at the Texas Relays … took second in the 400m at the Texas Tech Corky/Crofoot Shootout … scored eight points as part of the second-place 4x400 team at the Big 12 Championships … ran the 4x400 at the NCAA West Preliminary.
2018 INDOOR
Ran in seven meets for the Red Raiders … won the Corky Classic 400m in his first race in the Red & Black … part of runner-up 4x400 team at the Red Raider Invitational … took second in his first collegiate 200m at the Texas Tech Classic … part of runner-up 4x400 team at the Texas Tech Shootout … scored at the Big 12 Championships in the 4x400 (fifth place) and individually in the 400m (seventh) … ran with the 4x400 team at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
PENN STATE 2017 OUTDOOR
Mathis was named a Second Team All-American in the 4x400-meter relay after finishing ninth overall at a 3:04.17 pace ... this nationals performance came from the NCAA Division I East Preliminaries relay, where Mathis helped secure a fourth-place finishing 3:03.48 season-best relay ... he was also All-Big 10 in the 4x400-meter relay, where he and his teammates finished second at 3:05.22.
PENN STATE 2017 INDOOR
Opened up his indoor season at the Nittany Lion Challenge Meet clocking a 21.98 run in the 200m for first-place ... at the Rod McCravy Memorial T&F Meet, Mathis contributed in his fastest indoor 4x400-meter relay, pacing a 3:11.05 race to secure seventh ... this relay went on to claim first at the Penn State National meet the next week ... at the Big Ten Track & Field Championship, Mathis competed in the 400m finishing 19th with a 47.84 run.
