Tech Volleyball Drops Battles to Baylor, Tulsa in Plano
April 21, 2018 | Women's Volleyball
Saturday’s defeats mark the only blemishes for Tech this spring.
PLANO, Texas – The Texas Tech volleyball team closed its spring season in Plano, Texas, on Saturday with a pair of 2-1 losses to Baylor and Tulsa at the Madfrog Volleyball Gym.
The Red Raiders opened the day against a Tulsa squad that returned all but two players from a 15-17 team in 2017. The two sides split the first two sets before the Hurricane claimed a 15-12 win in the third.
Looking to regroup against Baylor, a 25-27 loss in the first set proved to be the difference as the teams split the second and third frames. The Lady Bears posted a 24-7 record last season and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Saturday's matches wrapped up a successful third spring under the direction of head coach Tony Graystone, turning in an 8-2 mark for the spring. Tech will look to carry the momentum into its 2018 season and build off its run to the finals of the 2017 National Invitational Volleyball Championships.
