The Red Raiders will face Oklahoma State on Thursday, May 24, at 12:30 p.m.

OKLAHOMA CITY – The No. 6 Texas Tech baseball team fell in its Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship opening game to TCU, 12-2, late Wednesday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

The Red Raiders (38-16) will now face Oklahoma State (29-23-1) in an elimination game on Thursday at approximately 12:30 p.m. on FOX Sports Southwest Plus.

Tech finished the night with two runs on 10 hits, with sophomore Josh Jung accounting for two hits and an RBI. Sophomore Grant Little and freshman Braxton Fulford also recorded two knocks in the contest.

Freshman right-handed pitcher Ryan Sublette started the tournament-opener for the Red Raiders, going 1.0 inning in his outing in OKC. He was charged with four runs after giving up one hit and walking five, while striking out one.

TCU struck first in the second inning after a single & three-straight walks for a 1-0 lead. After a pitching change, a single to center field from Shepherd added two more for a 3-0 score. With the bases loaded again and one out, Balta hit a bases-clearing double to left-center field to make it 6-0.

In the fourth inning, the Horned Frogs plated two more to push the lead to 8-0. The first three batters reached, as a walk & single were fulfilled by a two-RBI knock up the middle by Landestoy. The next inning brought the score to 9-0 after a sacrifice fly from Balta.

Tech plated its first runs of the night in the bottom half of the fifth behind an RBI single from Jung. After a pair of knocks from Fulford & Klein, Jung dropped another hit to right-center field for his 72^nd RBI of the year. A bases-loaded wild pitch with two outs scored Klein to make it 9-2 after five innings.

TCU got a run back in its next trip to the plate in the sixth as a double by Humphreys after a walk to Rizer to begin the frame scored him for a 10-2 lead. In the seventh, the Horned Frogs added runs on a bases-loaded walk and an RBI groundout, then closed out the game in seven innings.

The Red Raiders return to action roughly 12 hours after their first game ended against OSU at 12:30 p.m. at Bricktown Ballpark.
