Brower Promoted to Full-Time Assistant Golf Coach

JoJo Robertson announced Friday the promotion of Laurie Brower to assistant coach
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech women's golf coach JoJo Robertson announced Friday afternoon that volunteer assistant coach Laurie Brower has been promoted to a full-time role for the 2018-19 season.

This will be the first collegiate position for Brower, who has served two stints as a volunteer assistant under Robertson. She was previously on staff during the 2011-12 season and then rejoined the program this past January as the Red Raiders advanced to a NCAA Regional for the eighth time in the past nine years.

"Laurie was an incredible addition to our team this spring as a volunteer coach and made a huge impact in such a short time," Robertson said. "Laurie knows the game of golf inside and out and has had success at the highest level. She played her college golf here and loves Texas Tech. We are fortunate to have her with us."

A former standout on the LPGA Tour, Brower will assist in recruiting as well as player development in her new role. She replaces Matt Whall, who departed this spring for a similar position at Florida State.

Brower was a two-time Southwest Conference Player of the Year during her Tech career from 1982-85. She spent six years on both the Futures and Players West Tours before joining the LPGA as a rookie in 1992.

After a 10-year LPGA career that resulted in numerous top-10 finishes, Brower was ranked 214th in total earnings when she retired from the tour in 2002. Brower, who has amassed over $360,000 on various tours over her career, came out of retirement in 2008 to qualify and then play in the U.S. Women's Open.

Brower will look to add an appearance in the U.S. Women's Senior Open to her resume Monday during a qualifier at the Onion Creek Club in Austin. The U.S. Women's Senior Open is slated to be played July 12-15 at Chicago Golf Club in Wheaton, Illinois.
