Nielsen Claims Danish Junior Championship Title

Texas Tech incoming freshman Cecilie Nielsen recently claimed the Danish Junior Championship
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech incoming freshman Cecilie Nielsen will head to Lubbock in several weeks with an added title to her name – winner of the Danish Junior Championship.
Nielsen finished 3-over-par over two rounds of stroke play last week and then bested the remainder of the field over several rounds of match play to win the title in her home country of Denmark. It was her 13th top-10 finish over the last two years alone in top amateur events.
Nielsen signed with head coach JoJo Robertson's program last November as one of the top youth players as she currently ranks in the top 800 of the World Amateur Golf rankings.
In addition to Nielsen, sophomore Louisa Brunt also finished fourth last week in the Ladies Scratch Trophy tournament held in her native England. Brunt combined to finished 4-under-par thanks to a 3-under 72 opening round followed by a 1-under card.
The Red Raiders begin preparations for the 2018-19 season in just a few weeks as Nielsen is one of four newcomers to the roster. Tech will announce its full schedule in the upcoming weeks.
