Dakota Allen and Jah’Shawn Johnson were both named captains for second-straight season
LUBBOCK, Texas – Exactly one week from the AdvoCare Texas Kickoff against Ole Miss, Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kingsbury announced six captains for the 2018 season Saturday afternoon following a team vote.
Â
Senior linebacker Dakota Allen and senior defensive back Jah'Shawn Johnson highlight the list of captains as the pair were selected for a second-straight season. They will be joined by junior offensive lineman Travis Bruffy, senior wide receiver Ja'Deion High, junior offensive lineman Terence Steele and junior defensive lineman Broderick Washington Jr.
Â
This is the second-consecutive season and the third time during Kingsbury's tenure where the Red Raiders have utilized five or more captains. Tech played in a bowl game in each of those two seasons with a trip to the 2015 AdvoCare V100 Texas Bowl and the 2017 Birmingham Bowl.
Â
The six team captains will lead the Red Raiders next Saturday when Tech kicks off the 2018 season in an 11 a.m. start against Ole Miss from NRG Stadium in Houston. Coverage will be provided nationally on ESPN as well as on the Texas Tech Sports Network.
Â
Tickets are still on sale for as low as $25 per person to support the Red Raider in Houston. Tickets can be purchased online or by contacting the Tech Ticket Office at 806-742-TECH.
Â
The Red Raiders return home the following week to open their home slate against Lamar on Sept. 8. Season tickets, mini-plans and single-games passes are all still on sale through the Tech Ticket Office.
