Double Eagle Energy will be the presenting sponsor this year of the Texas Tech Spring Series
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech Spring Series will return for its third year in March but this time with an official presenting sponsor in Double Eagle Energy, an oil and gas development company based in the Permian Basin.
Â
The Spring Series has become a staple for the Tech football program, allowing fans around the state to catch the Red Raiders in person three times each spring. Tech is entering its first Spring Series under new head coach Matt Wells.
Â
"Double Eagle is proud to partner with Texas Tech Football on the Spring Series," said Cody C. Campbell, co-founder and co-CEO of Double Eagle Energy. "We are excited to watch the program develop under Coach Wells and look forward to seeing our team in action this spring."
Â
Campbell was a four-year letterwinner on the offensive line for the Red Raiders from 2001-04 before embarking on a two-year NFL career with the Indianapolis Colts. He was a multi-year first team Academic All-Big 12 honoree, and he also played in the Hula Bowl and Gridiron Classic following his senior year, which ended with Tech's 45-31 rout over No. 4 California in the Holiday Bowl.
Â
Campbell went on to co-found Double Eagle Energy Holdings with his partner John Sellers, a fellow former Tech student-athlete himself and generous supporter. Campbell presented Tech with a significant monetary gift only last January to kick off renovation plans for the south end zone of Jones AT&T Stadium and the Football Training Facility.
Â
The Spring Series begins March 30 with a 2 p.m. scrimmage inside Jones AT&T Stadium followed by a trip to Midland on April 5 for a Friday Night Lights scrimmage at Grande Communications Stadium. Tech closes its 15 allocated practices with its annual Spring Game on April 13 at The Star in Frisco, the official team headquarters of the Dallas Cowboys.
Â
This will be the eighth-consecutive year Tech has visited the Permian Basin area for a scrimmage in Midland. Tech began hosting an event at The Star in Frisco in 2017, giving numerous Red Raiders an opportunity to return home and play in front of friends and family each spring.
Â
Tickets for the Spring Game will go on sale in the upcoming weeks through the Tech Ticket Office. Tickets will be priced at $10 for adults 19 years of age and older, while complimentary admission will be provided to students 18 years or younger. A ticket will be required for entry into the Ford Center.
