Three Red Raiders to Participate in College Gridiron Showcase

Event to take place January 5-9 at McNair Stadium in Fort Worth, Texas.
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech Football seniors Jah'shawn Johnson, Kolin Hill and Preston Gordon have accepted invitations to compete at the 2019 College Gridiron Showcase & Symposium (CGS) Jan. 5-9 at McNair Stadium in Fort Worth, Texas.

The first all-star event of the 2018 college football postseason, the showcase provides exposure and education for top college football seniors from around the country during a five-day camp where they receive professional coaching, mentoring and attend seminars aimed at benefitting their professional ambitions.Â

CGS features an OTA style format for football professionals, showcasing the players through practice and a controlled scrimmage to scouts and executives from top professional leagues such as the NFL and CFL. The players also attend meetings, practice, perform individual drills, 1 on 1's, team drills with the potential for interviews with scouts and executives from pro teams.

Johnson, a four-year starter in the Red Raider secondary, accumulated 324 tackles during his career. A two-time All-Big 12 performer, he played a huge role in Texas Tech's rise as one of the top turnover-causing defenses in the country as he was in on 18 takeaways over his career with six interceptions, six forced fumbles and six fumble recoveries.

Hill, who transferred to Tech after his freshman year at Notre Dame, started 30 career games as a Red Raider and was the team's top pass rusher as a senior. An honorable mention All-Big 12 performer in 2017, he led the team in sacks with five as a senior while adding five quarterback hurries. He wrapped up his career in Lubbock with 112 total tackles, including 17 for a loss.

Gordon, a graduate transfer from Rice, played in all 12 games on the defensive line in his lone season at Tech. The McKinney, Texas, native compiled 21 tackles and 2.5 tackles as a Red Raider.
