Texas Tech drops second-straight Big 12 game

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech Women's Basketball squad dropped it's second-straight Big 12 game with a 73-56 loss to No. 8/7 Baylor on Sunday.

The Lady Raiders move to 9-4 on the season, 0-2 in Big 12 play, while Baylor (11-1, 1-0) picked up its first Big 12 win of the season.

Texas Tech opened the game with a 10-6 lead with back-to-back three-pointers from Chrislyn Carr and Sydney Goodson. Baylor battled back to take over the lead and the Lady Raiders went point-for-point, holding the Lady Bears to a six-point lead after the first.

Baylor extended its lead to 31 with six minutes to go just before Goodson sparked a 19-5 run to cut the margin down to 17.

TOP PERFORMERS
Texas Tech: The Lady Raiders had a pair of players reach double figures in scoring, including Chrislyn Carr's team-leading 19 points. Carr also had a career high seven rebounds in the contest. Sydney Goodson also reached double digits with 15 points with three assists and a steal.

Baylor: Three Baylor players reached double figures in scoring, led by NaLyssa Smith who had 14 points and seven rebounds off the bench. Chloe Jackson followed with 11 points, four assists and three steals while Kalani Brown scored 10 points and only had two rebounds.

This was the 90th meeting between Texas Tech and Baylor. The Lady Raiders move to 47-43 all-time against the Lady Bears.
The Lady Raiders outscored Baylor 21-15 in the final period of the game with 12 points from Sydney Goodson.
Tech made eight three-pointers while holding Baylor to just 1-for-6 from the arc.
The Lady Raiders also held Lauren Cox to eight points and four rebounds. Cox shot just 3-for-8 from the field.
The Lady Raiders forced Baylor to turn the ball over 18 times in the game, the second most of the season.
Freshman point guard Chrislyn Carr led the team once again with 19 points for her ninth straight double-digit game and 12th of the season. She also had a career high seven rebounds and three steals in the game.
Sophomore guard Sydney Goodson put up 15 points, two rebounds, three assists and a steal in today's game vs. Baylor. Nine of her 15 points came from beyond the arc as she went 3-for-6 from perimeter. 12 of those 15 points came in the fourth period alone.
