Texas Tech wins first game in Morgantown in program history.

MORGANTOWN, W.V. – No. 14 Texas Tech faced its biggest Big 12 road test of the season Thursday and passed in historic fashion, dispatching West Virginia in Morgantown, 1-0. Tech scored on a 72^nd-minute penalty kick and held the Mountaineers scoreless for its third shutout in four conference games.

"The difference was our mentality today," said head coach Tom Stone. "Just to know that we were good enough to win here and defend a lead once we got it. And that's exactly what we did."

In addition to mentality, Tech earned the win on the back of strong defending and a clutch penalty kick. The Red Raiders were dominant in the first half, outshooting the Mountaineers, 7-3, while putting two on net. Kirsten Davis and Jordie Harr facilitated a persistent attack, while Charlotte Teeter also took some shots. Despite the Red Raiders knocking on the door, nothing was put in net and the teams entered the half scoreless.

After the break, the Mountaineers turned up their attack, determined to strike first at home. West Virginia recorded four shots in the second 45 minutes and forced freshman keeper Madison White to make two tough saves.

The break for the Red Raiders came in the 72^ndminute, long after the game had become chippy and physical. A Tech attack saw Davis make a pass to a Demi Koulizakis, who tried to settle with the ball but was taken down from behind in the box. A PK was awarded, and freshman Hannah Anderson converted for the third time this season for the game-winner.
