Garcia Named to ANNIKA Award Fall Watch List

LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech junior women's golfer Sofia Garcia was named to the ANNIKA Award Fall Watch List on Thursday.
The ANNIKA Award, presented by Golfweek Magazine, is given annually to the nation's top golfer as selected by coaches and members of the golf media. Garcia is one of 15 collegiate golfers featured on the watch list, and is one of two individuals representing the Big 12 Conference.
Garcia, who was named to the ANNIKA Award Preseason Watch List, began her year with an individual title following a 10-under performance at the Trinity Forest Invitational, the fourth solo crown of her career.
Golfweek recently ranked Garcia as the country's No. 10 collegiate golfer. She is 4-0-1 against individuals in the top-25 and currently holds a stroke average of 69.05. Garcia has finished in the top-five in each of the Red Raiders' first three tournaments to kick off the fall campaign.
The Red Raiders will next tee it up in their penultimate fall event at the Jim West Challenge in San Marcos, beginning Sunday, Oct. 20th.
