Bloss and Valiev Collect Two Wins on Friday in Dallas

DALLAS, Texas – Texas Tech men's tennis juniors Justin Bloss and Ilgiz Valiev combined for two wins across singles and doubles play on Friday at the inaugural Ralston/Neufel Coaches Challenge in Dallas.
Bloss and Valiev began the weekend's tournament with a doubles win on Friday morning, defeating Grueber/Richards of Wichita State, 8-6, before falling to Vrbsky/Chakravarthi of SMU, 8-5.
Valiev began singles play by taking down Alex Reco of Arkansas in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, to advance to Saturday's quarterfinals of the red flight. He will face Florian Broska of Mississippi State at 10 a.m. CT.
Bloss dropped his first round match in singles play to Eduardo Simo of UT Arlington, 6-4, 6-2. He will face Michael Smith of SMU in the consolation bracket at noon on Saturday.
