Red Raiders in Ninth After Round One in Cabo

SAN JOSE DEL CABO, Mexico – The Texas Tech women's golf team is tied for 9th place following a team score of 303 in the first round of play at the Battle at the Beach in San Jose Del Cabo, Mexico.
The Red Raiders took an early lead on the rest of the field early on in the first round with a 2-under start through four holes, including four combined birdies, before falling behind the pack as the day progressed.
Tech was led by Sofia Garcia on Friday, who shot 2-over and is tied for 18th place heading into round two. Gala Dumez and Cecilie Nielsen followed Garcia with rounds of 76.
Amy Taylor rounded out the scoring for the Red Raiders with a 5-over round and was closely followed by Louisa Brunt, who concluded play on Friday at 6-over.
The Red Raiders will enter Saturday's second round just five shots back of third place. Play is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. CT.
