Women's Golf Moves Up Four Spots in Saturday's Second Round

SAN JOSE DEL CABO, Mexico – The Texas Tech women's golf team is in fifth place following a score of 291 in the second round of play at the Battle at the Beach in San Jose Del Cabo, Mexico.
After a morning where the Red Raiders shot a combined 17-over on the front nine, Tech bounced back with 17 birdies in the final nine holes and concluded play at 3-over.
Tech was headed by Gala Dumez and Amy Taylor on Saturday, as the two finished the day at 1-under par to become the only Red Raiders to play below par in the tournament. Saturday's rounds were the third under par in the last five rounds for both Dumez and Taylor. They are tied for 17th and 22nd place, respectively.
Sofia Garcia rebounded on Saturday following her first round over par this fall by going 4-under on the back nine to end up even par. She is currently tied for 12th place.
Cecilie Nielsen and Louisa Brunt both shot 5-over in the second round. Nielsen will enter the third round in a tie for 50th and Brunt sits in a tie for 59th.
Sunday's final round is schedule to begin at 9:15 a.m. CT.
