RED RAIDER QUICK HITS
- On Thursday, the Red Raiders set a program record with 12 honorees on the Academic All-Big 12 Teams. Nine Red Raiders – Emily Hill, Kylie Rittimann, Maggie Sagers, Emerson Solano, Allison White, Katy Northcut, Brooke Kanas and Audrey Smith – made the first team and four Red Raiders – Hannah Allison, Chandler Atwood, Alex Kirby and Karrington ones – were honored on the second team.
- Thanks to the Red Raiders' win at West Virginia, the Red Raiders have recorded three Big 12 wins this season – the first time Tech has achieved this feat since the 2004 season. Tech has taken down Kansas State, Iowa State and West Virginia on their home courts.
- Nationally, senior Emily Hill ranks 11th in the nation in attacks per set, 17th in total kills and points, 26th kills per set and 32nd in points per set.
- Four Red Raiders rank in the league's top 10. Emily Hill sits second in kills per set (4.28) and points per set (4.77) and ninth in aces per set (0.26), Emerson Solano ranks third with 4.04 digs per set, Alex Kirby ranks sixth with 9.87 assists per set and Karrington Jones ranks eighth with 0.97 blocks per set.
- Emerson Solano joined the 1000 career-dig club thanks to a 28-dig performance at Oklahoma on Wednesday, Nov. 13. Solano collected 171 digs as a freshman, 444 digs last season and she has tallied 429 digs this season. She now has 1044 digs in her three-year career.
- Junior Allison White is just 16 blocks away from reaching the 300th block of her career. She tallied 121 blocks as a freshman in 2017 before racking up 80 as a sophomore in 2018. White currently boasts 84 blocks this season. Only 10 Red Raiders have recorded 318 or more blocks in program history. The win also matched Tech's Big 12 victory total from last year with six against league opponents.
- Emily Hill has recorded 15 double-doubles this season and has tallied double-digit kills in every single match this season. Caitlin Dugan has posted 12 matches with double-digit kills and Brooke Kanas has tallied 10.
- Tech's most-recent victory over Iowa State marked the first time the Red Raiders have topped the Cyclones two times in the same season since 2004.
- Picked to finish eighth in the Big 12 Preseason Poll, Texas Tech has posted four victories over higher-seeded conference opponents. Tech topped fourth-ranked Iowa State twice (3- 1, 3-1), Kansas State (3-0) and Kansas (3-2) in Big 12 play.
- Putting in just as much effort in the classroom, Emily Hill was named to the 2019 CoSIDA Academic All-District Second Team. Hill carries a 3.47 GOA as a sports management major.
- Texas Tech came in at No. 79 in this week's RPI rankings.
- The Red Raiders have posted four key wins against teams ranked higher in the NCAA Women's Volleyball RPI. Tech opened up the season with a clean sweep over VCU – who currently ranks 48th – before edging 49th-ranked Ohio State, 3-2. Tech's third victory against a higher-ranked team came when they downed Iowa State (30th) by a score of 3-1 in Ames, Iowa. The Red Raiders earned their fourth win against higher-ranked opponents this past Wednesday with an identical 3-1 win over Iowa State in Lubbock at United Supermarkets Arena.
- The Red Raiders celebrated birthdays this month. Senior Kylie Rittimann turned 22 years old on Wednesday, Nov. 6 (game day against Kansas) and twins Lauren and Lindsey Dodson celebrated their 19th birthday on Friday, Nov. 8.
- After a stellar outing at the U.S. Women's National Team Open Tryouts, sophomore Brooke Kanas became the fourth Red Raider in program history to earn a spot on the U.S. Women's Collegiate National Team. She spent June 23-29 training with the nation's domestic program in Anaheim, Calif. She is the youngest Red Raider to have spent a summer training with the U.S. Collegiate National Team.
- The Texas Tech volleyball team was honored by the American Volleyball Coaches Association as an Academic Honor Roll Team after the squad posted a top-25 cumulative grade point average among all Division I institutions for the 2018-19 academic year. The prestigious honor was achieved thanks to a historic year in the classroom. In the fall, Tech placed a program-record 10 student-athletes on the Academic All-Big 12 Teams – nine first-team selections and one second-team nod. The Red Raiders also paced the Big 12 for the second straight year as four student-athletes recorded 4.00 grade point averages.
