
Men's Tennis Falls to No. 3 Mississippi State, 4-2

The Red Raiders pick up a doubles and singles win in Friday night's defeat
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech men's tennis team fell to No. 3 Mississippi State by a count of 4-2 on Friday at the Falls Tennis & Athletic Club.
In doubles play, the No. 14 ranked duo of Bjorn Thomson and Parker Wynn continued their hot streak in the No. 1 position with a 6-4 win to begin the night. The Bulldogs, however, rallied to win in the No. 2 and No. 3 positions, as they captured the first point of Friday's match.
For singles, Tech failed to swing momentum back in their favor, as Mississippi State took the next and second point of the evening by a count of 2-6 and 3-6, on court 1.
Tech's first point of the night came from junior Parker Wynn, who secured the notch for the Red Raiders by battling his way to a three-set victory, while Ilgiz Valiev racked up the next point for the Red Raiders with a straight-set win over the No. 98 ranked singles player for the Bulldogs.
Mississippi State would eventually wrap up the match by winning the next two points on courts 4 and 5, ending the night for Tech.

Tech will next return to action on Sunday, Feb. 10 against No. 19 Tulane at the McLeod Tennis Center in Lubbock. First serve is set for 1 pm.
