Lady Raider Tennis Continues Streak with 4-2 Win

Texas Tech defeats TCU, 4-2, in Fort Worth to stay undefeated in Big 12 play
FORT WORTH, Texas – The No. 27 Texas Tech Women's Tennis Team captured its sixth straight win and third Big 12 win of the season as the Lady Raiders defeated TCU, 4-2, on Saturday.

With the win, the Lady Raiders improved to 13-4 on the season, 3-0 in Big 12 play. TCU dropped to 10-5 this season, 3-1 in Big 12 play.

TCU took the early 1-0 lead after capturing the doubles point. The Horned Frogs picked up wins on courts one and three to clinch the point. Doubles duo Felicity Maltby and Nell Miller captured a 6-0 sweep over Chloe Hule and Stevie Kennedy on court two. The pair improved to 5-1 on court two this season.

Lady Raiders won five of the six first sets in singles against the Horned Frogs.

Freshman Olivia Peet was the first one off in singles play as she took a 6-0, 6-3 win on court five.

No. 48 Maltby gave the Lady Raiders the 2-1 lead with a 6-3, 6-4 win over No. 112 Ellie Douglas. Maltby is now 5-3 against ranked opponents and defeated Douglas twice this season.

Francesca Sella pushed the lady Raiders lead to 3-1 after a three set win over Aleksa Cveticanin on court two. Sella took a one-set lead with a 6-4 victory before Cveticanin forced a third set with her 6-2 victory in set two. Sella was down in the final set and came back to tie it 3-3. From there, the senior won three straight games to clinch the set 6-3.

The Horned Frogs cut into Tech's lead with a three-set win on court four. TCU's Kate Paulus defeated Denise-Antonela Stoica in three sets (6-0, 3-6, 6-1), snapping Stoica's seven-match win streak.

Lana Rush clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-0 victory on court six over Addy Guevara. Rush improved to 8-1 when playing at the No. 6 position.

The Lady Raiders travel to the state of Kansas for matches with Kansas and Kansas State. Texas Tech is set to face the Jayhawks on Friday at 5 p.m. and the Wildcats on Sunday at 11 a.m.
