Maltby Wins Third Straight Over Top 25 Opponent

Texas Tech falls to No. 11 Oklahoma State, 4-2
LUBBOCK, Texas – Senior Felicity Maltby capped her senior season with her third straight win over a Top 25 opponent, as the No. 27 Lady Raiders fell to No. 11 Oklahoma State, 4-2, in the regular season finale on Sunday.

Texas Tech concluded the 2019 regular season with a 16-7 overall record and a 6-3 record in Big 12 play. The Lady Raiders finish Big 12 play fourth in the league.

Oklahoma State (18-6, 8-1) opened the match with two wins on double courts one and two to clinch the point.

Senior Lana Rush closed out her career at the McLeod Tennis Center with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Tamara Arnold on court six. Rush is now 12-2 when playing at the no. 6 position and 6-2 in Big 12 play.

No. 40 Senior Felicity Maltby earned her third straight win over a Top 25 opponent as she took down No. 23 Katarina Stresnakova in straight sets (6-1, 6-2). Maltby improved to 8-1 in Big 12 play and 17-5 at the No. 1 position this season.

This season, Maltby is 7-4 against nationally ranked opponents and five of those wins have been over Top 25 singles players.

Texas Tech has a 2-1 lead before the Cowgirls won three straight matches to clinch the 4-2 win.

The Lady Raiders travel to Lawrence, Kan., for the Big 12 Championships this week. As the standings currently stand, the Lady Raiders will be the No. 4 seed heading into the tournament.
