Wynn selected after 2-0 performance against No. 6 Baylor
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech men's tennis junior Parker Wynn was chosen as this week's Player of the Week by the Big 12 Conference for his efforts on Sunday against No. 6 Baylor.
Wynn played an integral role in the Red Raiders' 4-2 upset bid over the Bears, as he picked up wins on both the singles and doubles side against some of the nation's top competitors.
He and playing partner Bjorn Tomson, recently ranked as the No. 4 duo in the country, took down the No. 1 ranked tandem in Lah and Bendeck of Baylor. It was only Lah and Bendeck's fourth loss of the year.
In singles play, Wynn put together a dominant performance, as he rattled off a pair of 6-2 set wins to take down the No. 22 ranked singles player on court one.
Following Sunday's performance, Wynn was ranked as the No. 79 singles player by Oracle/ITA. It is his highest ranking this season.
Wynn and the rest of the Red Raider men's tennis team will travel to Lawrence, Kansas to compete in the 2019 Big 12 Championship. The quarterfinal round is set to begin at 9 a.m. on Friday, as the No. 4 seeded Red Raiders will take on No. 5 seed Oklahoma.
