RED RAIDER QUICK HITS
- Continuing its historic season, Texas Tech eclipsed its 31-28 mark from 2018 thanks to a three-game sweep at Baylor last weekend. Now 33-8 on the season, the Red Raiders have put together their most wins since 2014. The Red Raiders recorded 30-plus wins in now 11 seasons – 1997 (34-29-1), 1998 (45-19), 1999 (36-31), 2001 (37-24), 2010 (38-18), 2011 (42-16), 2012 (41-17), 2013 (30-26), 2014 (35-19), 2018 (31-28), 2019 (current 33-8).
- Tied for the No. 1 spot in the school record book, senior All-American Jessica Hartwell is one home run shy of becoming Tech's all-time career home run leader. In her Tech career, Hartwell has collected 45 home runs. Her next home run this season will place her ahead of alumna Mike Kenney, who set the record with 45 home runs from 2010-13.
- Rocky Johnson Field was filled to capacity on Sunday, April 7 as 1,294 fans packed in to watch the No. 15 Red Raiders take on No. 11 Texas. Sunday's game marked the second time fans have topped the Rocky Johnson Field attendance record just this season. The record crowd broke the previous mark of 1,258 set on March 23, 2019, against then-ranked No. 2 Oklahoma.
-  Continuing a phenomenal junior campaign, Karli Hamilton moved into second all-time with a .425 season batting average. The Houston, Texas, native chases Kim Martinez – who set the single-season record of .492 in 1997. Hamilton set the program single-season record of six triples earlier in the season and currently ranks fifth all-time with a .709 single-season slugging percentage this year. Hamilton leads the Red Raiders with 17 multi-hit games this season and has reached base in the Red Raiders' last 15 games.
- The Red Raiders made program history last weekend thanks to the team's first-ever three-game series sweep over Baylor. Tech ground out a 6-2 win in the series opener and clinched its first series over Baylor since 2012 with a six-inning, 11-2 run-rule on Saturday. Continuing their crusade, Tech topped Baylor 11-6 on Sunday to secure the sweep.
- Looking back to 2018, Tech boasted a 21-20 record through its first 41 games. Tech has shown improvement in nearly every single offensive and defensive category. One season ago, Tech was hitting .285 as a team with 178 runs, 320 hits and 32 home runs and the Red Raiders have put together a collective .332 batting average, 270 runs, 352 hits and 50 home runs in 64 fewer at-bats in 2019. Under the direction of first-year pitching coach Letty Olivarez, the Tech pitching staff has improved its ERA, shutout production, number of saves, hits, runs, earned runs, walks, strikeouts, doubles, triples and home runs allowed, as well as its opponent batting average.
- New to the Red Raider squad, junior transfer Shelby Henderson will be celebrating her 21st birthday this Easter Sunday. Henderson has made three starts for Tech – two at first base and one behind the plate – and played an integral role in Tech's 3-2 win over No. 11 Texas on Saturday, April 6, after she sparked Tech's seventh-inning walk-off with a leadoff single up the middle.
- After a perfect, 3-0 weekend, the Red Raiders remain among the nation's top-25 teams. Tech checked in at No. 12 in the USA Today/NFCA Coaches Poll – the highest ranking for the Red Raiders in that specific poll – and No. 15 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Poll. Softball America, in its first year of existence, ranked Tech as the 16th team in the nation and the Red Raiders clocked in at No. 18 in the NCAA Women's Softball RPI. Tech's ninth straight week in the top 25 ties the program record from 1998 and 2011.
- Several Red Raiders rank among the nation's offensive and defensive leaders. Junior Karli Hamilton ties for fifth with six triples and 17th with 57 hits, sits 24th in runs per game, 32nd in batting average and ties for 37th in total bases. Trenity Edwards ranks 25th overall in slugging percentage and 39th with .31 home runs per game. Junior hurler Missy Zoch ranks 64th in the nation with 127 strikeouts and Erin Edmoundson sits 44th with 4.77 hits allowed per seven innings. Â
