
Four Red Raiders Set to Tee Off at European Amateur Championship

Dumez, Garcia, Nielsen and Taylor will represent Texas Tech golf in England
LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech women golfers Gala Dumez, Sofia Garcia, Cecilie Nielsen and Amy Taylor will compete in the 2019 European Ladies Amateur Championship at the Parkstone Golf Club in England, beginning July 24th.

The Red Raider golfers are four of 144 amateurs from the continent of Europe who will participate in this year's event. The four-round tournament will be cut to the top 60 players, including ties, following the conclusion of the third day of play.

Garcia, fresh off a win at the Dutch Junior Open a week ago, is seeking her fourth individual title in the 2019 calendar year, including wins for the Red Raiders at the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invite in February and the Valspar Augusta Invitational in March.

Dumez and Nielsen have also recently competed overseas, as the two represented their respective countries of France and Denmark at the 2019 European Ladies Team Championship in early July. Dumez put together two rounds of 71 and 73 to tie for 26th, while Nielsen finished with a 72 and 75 to finish in a tie for 51st.

Shortly after the conclusion of the 2018-19 campaign, Taylor participated in the English Women's Amateur Championship in England, concluding the two rounds of stroke play in a tie for 12th at 7-over, just three shots back of second place.
