Thomson and Wynn Advance to Doubles Semifinal Round in San Francisco

No. 2 ranked duo collects two wins on Friday at the Battle in the Bay
LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech senior men's tennis players Bjorn Thomson and Parker Wynn picked up a pair of wins on Friday to advance to Saturday's doubles semifinals at the Battle in the Bay in San Francisco.

Thomson and Wynn, who were recently ranked as the No. 2 doubles pairing in the nation by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), entered the Battle in the Bay as the No. 2 seed.

The Red Raider pairing began their doubles competition by defeating Luc Fomba (TCU) and Blake Croyder (Georgia) in the round of 16 by a margin of 8-6. In the quarterfinal round, Thomson and Wynn advanced with an 8-4 win over Paul Giraud and Nitzan Ricklis of San Francisco to advance to Saturday's semifinals.

The Red Raider doubles partners are set to square off with third-seeded Stefan Dostanic and Brandon Holt of USC at 11 a.m. CT on Saturday.

Thomson and Wynn both fell in their opening singles matches on Friday, placing them in the consolation bracket. Wynn will face Joseph Rotheram of UC Santa Barbara and Thomson will battle the fifth seed, Guilherme Osorio, of San Diego. Both matches will begin at 2:30 p.m. CT.
