LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's golf team will tee off their 2019-20 campaign Monday morning in Dallas at the Trinity Forest Invitational.
Â
The golf course, home of the PGA Tour's annual AT&T Byron Nelson tournament, is a 6,233-yard par 72 course that will play host to the fourth annual Trinity Forest Invitational this year. 36 holes will be played on Monday, beginning with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. The third and final round will also begin at 8 a.m. on Tuesday.
Â
"We're looking forward to getting our season started," head coach JoJo Robertson said. "Trinity Forest is a great golf course and will be a good test for us. We have two players who will be playing in their first event, so we are excited to see them compete."
Â
Tech returns to Trinity Forest for the third time in four years, having last recorded a fourth place finish in the fall of 2017.
Â
The Red Raiders will be led by junior Sofia Garcia, who is coming off the heels of one of the most impressive seasons in program history, racking up three individual titles and breaking the single-round scoring mark with a 64 at the BYU at Entrada Classic in March.
Â
Sophomore Anna Dong will also make her season debut on Monday following a freshman campaign where she finished second on the team in scoring average (74.65), while also completing the NCAA Norman Regional in a team-best tie for 7th at 2-under.
Â
Junior Amy Taylor and sophomore Cecilie Nielsen are set to compete in Dallas, boasting low rounds of 66 and 68, respectively, from a year ago. Freshman Gala Dumez rounds out the team lineup, making her career debut in the scarlet and black. Abby Van Cleave will participate as an individual.
