Lady Raider Tennis Travels to Texas A&M Fall Invitational

LUBBOCK, Texas  – The Texas Tech women's tennis team heads to College Station, Texas, this weekend to compete at the Texas A&M Fall Invitational. The tournament is set to begin Friday and run through Sunday.

Lady Raiders scheduled to make the trip include Nell Miller, Kaitlin Staines, Olivia Mikkelson and Kailey Evans. It will mark Mikkelson's first collegiate event after playing a pair of pro events in Lubbock over the last month.

Aside from Texas Tech, other schools in the tournament field include host Texas A&M, Texas, Rice, Texas State and LSU. The stacked field includes three teams who finished 2020 ranked in the ITA top 30.

The Lady Raiders opened its 2020 fall collegiate schedule last weekend at the OU Invitational in Norman, Okla. It was a big weekend for newcomer Kaitlin Staines, who took home a singles title in her first official event as a Lady Raider. Staines went 3-0 in singles on the way to taking home top honors.

As a team, Texas Tech saved their best day for last in Norman, combining to go 4-1 on the final day of competition at the Headington Tennis Center. Miller finished her weekend 2-1 in doubles, while Evans and freshman Camryn Stepp both picked up their first collegiate victories.
