October 08, 2020 | Women's Tennis
LUBBOCK, Texas  – The Texas Tech women's tennis team continues its fall season this weekend when it heads to Norman, Okla., to compete at the Big 12 Series at OU. It will mark the first collegiate event of the season for the team after opening the fall at a pair of pro events.
Â
Lady Raiders set to make appearances at the event include Nell Miller, Kaitlin Staines, Olivia Mikkelson, Camryn Stepp and Kailey Evans. Mikkelson, Stepp and Evans will be making their first appearances in a collegiate tournament, while Staines will be making her first appearance as a Lady Raider at a collegiate event after the All-American transferred to Texas Tech from Tennessee this summer.
Â
Along with Texas Tech and Oklahoma, other teams appearing at the event include TCU, Oklahoma State, Arkansas and North Texas.
Â
The event will use a round robin tournament format. All players will play two doubles and at least two singles matches across Saturday and Sunday. No live scoring will be available at the event, but updates will be provided following both days on TexasTech.com.
Â
The Lady Raiders have appeared in a pair of pro tournaments to open their fall season, both being played in Lubbock. Most recently, Mikkelson made a strong run to the singles semifinals at the West Texas Pro Tennis October Open last weekend, while three Lady Raiders advanced to the quarterfinals.
