Four Red Raiders were named to the AP All-Big 12 team Thursday, matching the league high
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech matched the league high with four Red Raiders named Thursday to the All-Big 12 first team compiled by the Associated Press. Tech also had five selections earlier in the week to the All-Texas teams from Dave Campbell's Texas Football.
Â
The Red Raiders joined Iowa State and Oklahoma with the most AP first-team selections as junior offensive lineman Jack Anderson, sophomore wide receiver Erik Ezukanma, sophomore punter Austin McNamara and senior defensive back Zech McPhearson were all honored.
Â
All four were previously recognized on the All-Big 12 first team that was voted on by the conference coaches last week. The AP All-Big 12 teams were selected by a panel of 20 sports writers and sportscasters who regularly cover the league.
Â
In addition, Ezukanma and McPhearson were both tabbed to the Dave Campbell's All-Texas first team as well as they were joined by second-team honorees in Anderson, McNamara and senior linebacker Colin Schooler. It marked the second postseason honor thus far for Schooler, who was an honorable mention All-Big 12 pick by the league coaches.
Â
Texas Tech is expected to bring back the bulk of its postseason honorees as Schooler has already announced his intentions to return for another senior season, while Ezukanma and McNamara will remain sophomores. Anderson, meanwhile, will forego his remaining eligibility to enter the 2020 NFL Draft.
