RED RAIDER GOLF SEASON REVIEW

LUBBOCK, Texas – The journey was cut short, but not before Texas Tech experienced one of the most historic regular seasons in program history. The Red Raiders were in Phoenix, Arizona preparing to play in the Grand Canyon Invitational when the entire sports world and society stopped due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Tech had three regular season tournaments remaining before they were set to play in the Big 12 Championship. The team had started the season in the fall with tournament wins at The Carmel Cup, Iverness Intercollegiate and the Big 12 Match Play Championship.Â
The season was highlighted by the three team championships, individual titles from Sandy Scott, Andy Lopez and Markus Braadlie and was rewarded by a No. 3 finish in the Golfstat and Golfweek Coaches Polls. What could have been accomplished in the 2019-20 season will never be known, but the accomplishments below show the success that head coach Greg Sands and the Red Raiders experienced throughout their campaign.
