The Red Raiders’ 2020 recruiting class earned Highest Honorable Mention status.
LUBBOCK, Texas – With three Red Raiders making up head coach Tony Graystone's 2020 recruiting class, Texas Tech volleyball's incoming group earned Highest Honorable Mention recognition from PrepVolleyball.com.
The list was created with the help of a panel of coaches who provided input and discussions about the future of the programs. The size and strength of each class were considered, as well as their ability to improve their programs and make an impact on the conference and national levels.
Graystone's strong 2020 recruiting class is comprised of three members – Mackenzie Morgan, Reese Rhodes and Maddie O'Brien, who arrived at Texas Tech as an early enrollee in January.
Morgan, a six-foot-three outside hitter from Bellville High School will add great depth to Tech's group of outside hitters and Graystone says her ball control will allow her to succeed on the court.
"Mack is a strong outside hitter with great ball control and the ability to play six-rotations. She also has size and length that will give us a physical presence at the net. Mack has a big future ahead of her and is a perfect fit for our system."
A six-foot-one setter from Midway High School, Rhodes provides great versatility that will help the Red Raiders in numerous ways.
"Reese is a real game-changer for us. She's an outstanding setter who can also hit on the right side and has the ability to impact a match in many ways. She also has superior leadership skills and is ultra-competitive. Reese is going to make us better right away."
O'Brien, a six-foot-two outside hitter from Cinco Ranch High School, joined the Red Raiders on campus in January and already started making her mark.
"Maddie is a dynamic front row player and can play all three hitter positions. She's spent most of her time as a middle blocker/right side, but I think she's got a great future on the left side."
Other programs included in the Highest Honorable Mention include Arkansas, Boston College, Brown, California, Dayton, Georgia, Iowa, Iowa St., Liberty, Lipscomb, Miami (FL), Ole Miss, Mississippi St., NC State, North Carolina, Oregon, Pepperdine, Saint Louis, San Diego, Tennessee, Texas Tech, UC Santa Barbara, Utah, Villanova, Virginia, Wake Forest, Washington, Washington St. and Yale.
