Trio of Red Raiders Honored as WGCA Academic All-American Scholars
June 29, 2020 | Women's Golf
LUBBOCK, Texas – Three members of the Texas Tech women's golf team were named WGCA All-American Scholars by the Women's Golf Coaches Association on Monday. Junior Amy Taylor, sophomore Anna Dong and freshman Gala Dumez were included on the list, marking the fifth-consecutive year Tech has had at least three honorees.
With three recipients, Tech joins Oklahoma State with the most awarded golfers in the Big 12 Conference.
The WGCA All-American Scholar Golf teams highlight the outstanding academic and athletic achievements in women's college golf. Recognized as having one of the highest standards for selection to these teams in college athletics (3.50 GPA), the WGCA All-American Scholar teams continue to demonstrate the high level academic achievements of players across the country. Other criteria includes playing in 50 percent of the college's regularly-scheduled competitive round during the year as well as high moral character and a good standing at each respective university.
Monday's selection was the third-straight for Taylor, who was previously honored in 2019 and 2018. Dong was also selected in 2019 as a freshman and Dumez notched her first accolade.
Dong and Taylor were also recognized for their academic success earlier this year as the pair were honored on the Academic All-Big 12 first team in April.
