Red Raiders Return to Field For Day One of Camp

Texas Tech opened its second preseason camp under Matt Wells on Friday afternoon
LUBBOCK, Texas – Matt Wells made sure to count the number of days since the Red Raiders were last scheduled for a full practice. It was 148 days, for those that were wondering.
That changed Friday as the Red Raiders officially opened their second slate of preseason practices under Wells, going through a roughly 90-minute workout at the Football Practice Facility. Yes, the workout looked different as the Red Raiders wore face shields while coaches utilized face coverings.
Still, the Red Raiders were back on the field.
The Red Raiders will have two similar workouts Saturday and Sunday as part of five weeks of preparation ahead of their Sept. 12 season opener against Houston Baptist. Tech will be in only helmets again Saturday before adding shoulder pads on Sunday.
Due to safety reasons pertaining to COVID-19, all practices this season are closed to fans and the media. Texas Tech will have highlights and pictures available throughout camp, though, on @TexasTechFB on Twitter and @TexasTech_FB on Instagram.
