Lady Raider Tennis Wraps Up Spring Opener

ARLINGTON, Texas – The Texas Tech women's tennis team finished up play at the Big 12/Pac-12 Mock Duals on Wednesday at the Arlington Tennis Center.

Tech finished the week in Arlington with a 9-6 overall record in singles and a 4-2 mark in doubles, with Lisa Mays and Margarita Skriabina going 3-0.

Lady Raiders Lisa Mays and Margarita Skriabina took home the tournament doubles title, going 3-0 on the weekend after a 6-3 win over Utah. Metka Komac and Bojana Marinkov completed the doubles sweep of the Utes with a 6-2 win of their own.

The Lady Raiders moved onto singles, where they took three of five matches from Big 12 foe Kansas.

Mays finished her week with a 2-1 mark in singles as she defeated Malkia Ngounoue, 6-2, 6-1. Skriabina also finished with a 2-1 record for the event, coming back to knock off Carmen Roxana Manu, 2-6, 6-0, 6-4. Komac earned her second-straight win with a gutsy, 7-6, 7-5 win over Tiffany Lagarde to finish the week 2-1.

Peet came up short of a perfect week in singles, falling, 7-5, 6-2, to Vasiliki Karvouni. Marinkov dropped her final match of the event, 7-5, 6-2, to Sonia Smagina.

The Lady Raiders will return to action on Jan. 21 when they open their dual schedule in Norman, Okla., against Kansas State, followed by matches against Tulsa on Jan. 23 and Oklahoma on Jan. 24.
