Texas Tech opened its season with 5-0 and 7-0 victories over Abilene Christian on Sunday
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech men's tennis started the season red hot, going unbeaten in Sunday's doubleheader against Abilene Christian thanks to 5-0 and 7-0 victories.

Sunday's early match at the Falls Tennis and Athletic Center was highlighted by an unblemished team win for Tech. Together, the Red Raiders did not lose a single set in singles or doubles play.

Sophomore Reed Collier led the way for the 24th-ranked Red Raiders, winning his singles match against Riley Tran, 6-4, 6-2. Collier and his teammate Parker Wynn also secured a win in their doubles match in a 6-4 decision.

Sunday's second match at the McLeod Tennis Center saw more of the same dominance. Head coach Danny Whitehead saw his team win every match, going 7-0 against the Wildcats. Junior Dimitrios Azoidis started strong against his former team. Alongside his doubles partner, junior Ilgiz Valiev, the duo managed to take down ACU's Delgado and Cano-Sosa, 6-3. Azoidis kept the momentum going into singles play defeating Jose Rastrojo, 6-1, 6-1.Â

Overall, the Red Raiders did not lose a match against the Wildcats on their way to a perfect 2-0 record.Â

The Red Raiders will look to stay unbeaten next weekend when Tech travels to Columbus, Ohio to take on the Iowa Hawkeyes on Jan. 22.
