Cross Country Preview: Red Raiders set for Arturo Barrios Invitational

Saturday's meet will mark the fourth regular season race for Tech
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech men's and women's cross country teams close out the regular season in its final tune-up meet before the Big 12 Championships Saturday morning at the Arturo Barrios Invitational.

Taking place at the Dale Watts Cross Country Course in Bryan-College Station, the men's 8k race is set for a 9 a.m. start, while the women's race is scheduled for 9:45 a.m.Â

The field will include 38 teams from the women's side with 11 of them being ranked inside the top 15 of their respective region. Meanwhile, 36 teams from the men's side will be competing with 10 programs ranked inside the top 15 of their region as well.Â

Two weeks ago, the Red Raiders concluded their third regular season meet at the Chile Pepper Festival. Halena Rahmaan paced the women's side coming in ninth overall as she shattered her previous 5k record of 18:05.6 with a time of 17:15.5. On the men's squad, Thomas Velvin led the way finishing 58th with a time of 25:27.3 – a new season-best 8k mark.Â
