Cross Country Lands 20 Runners on Academic All-Big 12 List

Texas Tech tied with Kansas State and Texas to lead all women’s teams
LUBBOCK, Texas. – The Texas Tech men's and women's cross country teams garnered 20 student-athletes on the Academic All-Big 12 list, the league office announced Thursday afternoon.

A total of 10 Red Raiders from each team made the list as Texas Tech tied with Kansas State and Texas to lead all women's teams. Â

"This is a great honor for those who qualified for it," said head cross country coach Jon Murray. "It's a testimony to the amount of work each of them does in the classroom. I'm proud of each person on this team and the work they do towards their degree."
Â
First Team members consist of student-athletes who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the Second Team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA. In addition to holding a GPA in one of the above ranges, a student-athlete must have competed in at least 20 percent of the team's contests throughout the season to be eligible, or in the case of seniors, have done so over the last two years.
