Aberg, Pereira Complete PGA Tour’s Butterfield Bermuda Championship

SOUTHAMPTON, Bermuda – Mito Pereira and Ludvig Aberg completed the PGA Tour's Butterfield Bermuda Championship on Sunday with Pereira finishing in 30th overall at 6-under and Aberg at 2-under (T51) on the Port Royal Golf Course.
Lucas Herbert won the tournament at 15-under, while Patrick Reed and Danny Lee took second overall at 14-under. Pereira turned in a four-round scorecard of 73-68-65-72 – 278 and Aberg shot 68-68-73-73 – 282 in his first PGA Tour event of his career.
Aberg, who was playing as an amateur with a sponsor's exemption, is currently No. 3 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings. Along with competing in the Bermuda Championship, Aberg will play in the RSM Classic in mid-November at Sea Island. A former Red Raider (2014-15), Pereira was at 7-under overall and tied for 22nd overall while Aberg was 4-under and tied for 43rd going into the final round.
Aberg opened the tournament by shooting 68s on Thursday and Friday to move to his 6-under, while Pereira was at 1-under following carding a 68 of his own in the second round. Pereira made four birdies and 13 pars in his second round of 3-under after he had shot a 73 on Thursday to begin the tournament.
Pereira competed at Texas Tech in the 2014-15 season before turning professional where he recently earned his PGA Tour card with a three-win victory exemption on the Korn Ferry Tour. He represented Chile in the Olympic tournament shooting 69-65-68-67 and advancing to a playoff for the bronze medal.
A Santiago, Chile native, he earned wins at the BMW Charity Pro-Am, REX Hospital Open and Country Club de Bogota Championship on the Korn Ferry this season to secure a Three-Victory Promotion to the PGA Tour. Pereira finished his freshman season at Texas Tech with a 72.2 stroke average and earned Big 12 All-Tournament Team honors after shooting 9-under for eighth place at the tournament in Tulsa. He finished third at the Fortinet Championship in September for his best finish on Tour. Pereira was tied for 63rd after shooting a 73 with three birdies on his scorecard in the first round before shooting 3-under on Friday.
Aberg earned the spot in the upcoming RSM Classic by winning the 2021 Jones Cup Invitational. The No. 11 Red Raiders completed their fall schedule and will return to action in February in Hawaii to begin the spring schedule.
