LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech women's tennis team picked up its third-straight win on Sunday, sweeping Abilene Christian, 4-0, at the McLeod Tennis Center.
Â
The Lady Raiders (5-1) opened the day by gutting out a tight doubles point, picking up wins on courts one and two to head into singles with a 1-0 lead. The Wildcats struck first, winning a 6-2 match on court three, followed by a 6-3 win by Tech's Kaitlin Staines and Nell Miller in the No. 1 doubles line.
Â
The deciding match on two headed to a tiebreaker after what was a back-and-forth match between Tech's Olivia Peet and Margarita Skriabina, and ACU's Allison Stewart and Sylvia Viljoen. Peet and Skriabina never trailed in the tiebreaker, pulling away late for the 8-6 victory to clinch the doubles point.

The Lady Raiders carried their momentum into singles, winning three matches in straight sets to put the Wildcats away quickly. Tech took five of six first sets and led on two of the three remaining courts when the match was clinched.
Â
Miller was the first Lady Raider on the board, recording a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Sylvia Viljoen to stretch the Texas Tech lead to 2-0. Miller moved to 2-2 on the dual season with the win.
Â
On court two, Skriabina pushed her perfect dual record to 5-0, earning a 6-1, 6-1 win over Maryjoe Crisologo and putting the Lady Raiders a point away from the win at 3-0.
Â
Freshman Metka Komac came up with the clincher for Texas Tech, knocking off Claire Fisher, 6-3, 6-4, on court six for her third win in as many dual matches this season.
