Red Raiders Fall to Tigers in Dallas

Tech beaten for first time this spring.
DENTON, Texas – Texas Tech (4-6-2) dropped a tough 1-0 decision to LSU at Texas Woman's University in the Dallas-Fort Worth area Saturday. The Tigers got the victory on the heels of a Tech own goal.
"Scoring on yourself in a 1-0 game is a tough way to lose," said head coach Tom Stone. "I don't think the own goal phased us to be honest, but we were unable to deliver the quality at the other end of the field to equalize."
"Full credit to LSU though," Stone continued. "They are going to cause some serious problems for teams next fall, and their confidence is so high right now."
Kirsten Davis and Gisselle Kozarski led the way up front for Tech, with more shots provided by Macy Schultz. Despite multiple looks after beating LSU defenders, a 29th-minute own goal put the Tigers on top. The back line held strong on numerous occasions as the Red Raiders pushed for an equalizer, but they would be held scoreless.
"Going in, we knew we were going to turn them over in the middle," said Stone. "We had hoped to counter successfully in those transitional moments, but we were either too hasty with the entry pass or failed to escape the initial pressure after we won it. It's disappointing for sure, but with only a handful of subs right now we are asking a lot of our core group in terms of minutes. They are logging some gutsy performances lately, which will pay big dividends next fall."
Tech is back in action next weekend with a Sunday afternoon tilt against North Texas. First touch will be at 2 p.m.
