Texas Tech to Open Big 12 Play Against Sooners
LUBBOCK – The No. 21 Texas Tech men's tennis team will take their nine match win streak to Norman on Thursday to face the No. 20 Sooners at 4 p.m.
Tech comes into the match with a record of 11-2 after most recently securing a win over New Mexico in Albuquerque. The Red Raiders' success has been a result of gritty play and complete roster contributions from individuals such as Francisco Vittar who was placed in the lineup versus the Lobos for the first time in over a month. The junior from Argentina secured the go-ahead point for the Red Raiders defeating his opponent 7-5, 7-5.
The Sooners currently sit at a record of 8-9, and are recently coming off a loss to No. 26 Central Florida in a non-conference match last Saturday. The Sooners are paced in doubles play by the twenty-eighth ranked team of freshman Nathan Han and sophomore Alex Martinez who have tallied a 9-4 record heading into Thursday's showdown.
The two squads squared off against each other earlier this season in a non-conference matchup on March 14 with the Red Raiders besting the Sooners 4-1. Thursday's match will be broadcasted on Bally Sports Oklahoma and streamed on the Fox Sports GO app. In addition, live stats will also be available for fans to follow. Score updates will also be available on the Red Raider tennis Twitter and Instagram accounts (@TexasTechMTEN).
