
Lady Raiders Fall at No. 15 Baylor

WACO, Texas – The Texas Tech women's tennis team fell, 4-2, on Sunday afternoon at No. 15 Baylor.

The day started in doubles, where the Bears edged the Lady Raiders to take an early 1-0 lead. Following a Baylor win on two, Tech's Lisa Mays and Kaitlin Staines took down Jessica Hinojosa and Kristina Sorokolet on court one, 6-3. The doubles point was decided on court three, where Baylor's Livia Kraus held off Lady Raiders Olivia Peet and Metka Komac, 6-4.

The battle continued into singles, as four of six singles matches were decided in third sets. Baylor struck first in singles action, with Nell Miller falling to Livia Kraus on court four as the Bears took a 2-0 lead.

Skriabina answered for Texas Tech, staying undefeated on the dual season with a straight-set win over Baylor's Angelina Shakhraichuk to draw the deficit to 2-1. The win moved Skriabina to 7-0 in dual singles matches this season.

After Baylor picked up another win on court six to stretch its advantage to 3-1, Mays responded for Texas Tech, coming back for a 6-4, 2-6, 6-1 win over Alicia Herrero Linana. The win moved Tech to within 3-2, and pushed Mays' overall singles record this season to 7-2.

The Bears would go on to clinch the match with a Paula Baranano three-set win over Tech's Olivia Peet.

The Lady Raiders will return to Lubbock for a trio of home matches next weekend, beginning with a Big 12 match against Kansas State on Friday at 5 p.m.
