PITCHING MATCHUP
Texas Tech will stick with the same midweek starters this week in right-handers Micah Dallas and Chase Hampton. Dallas (1-1, 2.35 ERA) is making his third start of the year after picking up the win over Texas Southern last week with 5.0 shutout innings. Hampton (1-0, 5.40 ERA) receives his second career start after posting 3.0 shutout frames in Tech's run-rule victory over the Tigers.
Â
Gonzaga will start senior right-hander Alek Jacob (1-0, 5.59 ERA) on Tuesday. Its Wednesday starter is TBD. Jacob has 25 career starts and a 2.84 career ERA. So far this season, he has allowed four runs on four hits in 5.0 innings against Kansas State, followed by two runs on four hits in 4.2 innings at Dallas Baptist.
SERIES HISTORY
Texas Tech holds a 2-1 lead over the Bulldogs in the all-time series. This will be the first meeting since 2011, when the two split a midweek series in Lubbock. Tech has averaged more than eight runs per game in the three meetings. The Gonzaga series opens a 12-game home stand for the Red Raiders that extends through the remainder of March. Tech hosts UConn for a four-game series this weekend before its Big 12 opener the following weekend against Oklahoma State.
